Search for SEO in Milton Keynes and most of page one is national agencies with a Milton Keynes page on their website. We’re not in Milton Keynes either (in case you were wondering) but we’re only just down the road. We’re in Maids Moreton, just outside Buckingham, 12 miles up the A422 from Central Milton Keynes. Close enough to come to your office for meetings as required. Our postcode starts MK as well.
Most of the work happens at a desk, so we don’t need to visit unless you want us to. The advantage of being local is that we know the area we are trying to rank you in.
Milton Keynes is not one place in search
Milton Keynes became a city in 2022, but it is made up of towns and estates that kept their own names: Bletchley, Wolverton, Stony Stratford, Newport Pagnell and Olney among them. A business in Wolverton may be competing in a very different set of search results from one in Central Milton Keynes.
So part of our research is working out which place names your customers actually type, and which of those you can realistically rank for. Sometimes that’s “Milton Keynes”. Often it is somewhere more specific, and the more specific searches are usually the easier ones to win.
Checking the searches are real
Before we build anything around a search term, we check how many real people search for it. That sounds obvious, but a surprising share of the “demand” in Search Console comes from other agencies’ rank-tracking tools running automated searches. On our own site, one county-level phrase showed around 4,000 impressions in three months, while Google’s Keyword Planner put real searches at under 100 a month. The real figure is somewhere between the two. Pages built around phrases like that look busy in the reports and never bring in a customer.
What we do for Milton Keynes businesses
We start with an audit of your website and your Google Business Profile (or set one up if you don’t have one), then research your competitors and the searches your customers use. From that we put together a plan, carry out the work (or work alongside your web team if you have one), and send regular reports so you can see what’s moving.
Google Maps listings matter as much as the website for most local businesses, and we can handle those as part of the same work or on their own. We can also shoot 360 photos of your premises and add them to your Google listing.
Espresso Architecture, who have an office in Milton Keynes, have been a client for a number of years. We moved their website to new hosting, keep it up to date and handle their local SEO. There is more on the Espresso Architecture project page.
There is more detail on how we approach this on our local SEO and search engine optimisation pages.
